Our Undivided Heart

What poisons our mind

Tastes sweet for an instant

But that moment in time

Is soon fleeting in the distance

Desire, aversion, and arrogance

Acquiring worsening malevolence

Precedes heartbreak in prisons of mistake

Seeding headaches from the poisons we take

They act like glue to fortify our pride

Subdue our hearts, solidify our minds

They trench a moat of separateness

Around our lonely heart

Erecting a tower of self-centeredness

That cracks and breaks apart

These tragic payback toxins

Are black magic gateway drugs

Why overdose on karma?

And drown in this bad blood?

Spinning indefinitely in limitless misery

On a winding wheel of woe?

A binding ordeal that seems all too real

Will we let it steal our souls?

By opening in flowing motion

Not opposing in controlling revulsion

Awareness like wildfire devours this quagmire

Consuming sludge-thoughts

Exhuming grudge-clots

Torching our rotting splintered part

Then from the ashes we can reenter

Our undivided heart

May every in-breath be our rebirth

May every outbreath be our death

Death to all clinging that ends all suffering

The pendulum of opposites

Slowly swings to rest

It ceases to affect us

With all its stormy stress

With its pleasure and pain

Loss and gain

Praise and blame

Fame and shame

If we keep opening our heart

To the sameness of oneness

In infinite space free from any trace

Of longing and pining

Wronging and strip-mining

Off the fragmented grind of time

While ruthlessly guarding

With no dream of discarding

Our demented self-shrine

Befriend the uninvited

They have a gift to give to you

Distend and be clear-sighted

Clouds lift so love can break through

What’s left is lovingkindness

Compassionate goodness

Nothingness emptiness

Intense all-rightness

Inner light brightness

Without any witness

In an ocean of forgiveness

Insight into clearness

Sublime sacred ordinariness

Words sink into silence

A silent link alliance

With past future and present

All fountaining omnipresent

Heal all at once in this constant state of flux

Flowing music so profound it’s multidimensional

Mind-blowing soundless sound ecstatically incomprehensible!
